Dear Kiran,
You aren't the first person to have an experience like this. There are many stories about religious statues, pictures and similar objects emitting a lovely glow or exhibiting other interesting phenomena. There have been statues of Jesus that drip blood, icons of the Virgin Mary that shed tears, religious pictures that drip with fragrant oil, and strange lights that appear in sacred places and around sacred objects.
The light you're seeing is astral in nature, which means it exists on the astral plane. On the astral, our beliefs directly determine our experiences. For example, when someone who has great faith in Jesus is traveling in the astral and encounters a dark entity, if that person calls upon Jesus and believes that this will send the dark entity away, that is what will tend to happen. If, however, someone who doesn't believe in Jesus tries this same remedy, it may not work so well.
Where things get complicated is when many people have a strong belief in something. When it comes to Christianity, when a person prays or focuses on Jesus, she can tap into the enormous well of potent energy that has been channeled toward Jesus for thousands of years. This energy is very powerful and may be the source of many a so-called miracle. My point is that there is tremendous energy surrounding Jesus the Christ, and this energy has a life of its own apart from any divine being or deity.
Of course, it's possible that you are seeing this light because some spiritual force is trying to convey a sign or message to you in answer to your prayers. When we pray to Spirit for help or guidance, we set the answers to our prayers in motion. While most of us then receive responses via signs that catch or attention, startling experiences of synchronicity or sudden breakthroughs and blessings, it's certainly possible that Spirit is letting you know that your prayers are being heard by showing you this light.
Visits by spiritual beings of a divine nature are frequently accompanied by visions of light. Many people have reported encountering angels or spirit guides as visions of beautiful light or as beings surrounded by light. Others have described encounters with Jesus, other deities, angels, or other holy figures in which the whole room they were in was illuminated by a beautiful light that filled them with feelings of love and ecstasy. So it's possible that in seeing this light, you're sensing the presence of a divine being.
It could also be that the sincerity of your devotion has turned this picture into a portal through which you can connect with the Divine, and it has thus become something of a gateway to a certain spiritual dimension. When you pray to/through it, you turn it on by plugging your energy into it, and it begins to glow with the divine energy of the dimension it is a window into.
Spending all of this time in prayer is similar to engaging in deep meditation, which will naturally awaken your psychic senses. Since this experience involves you seeing something metaphysical (as opposed to hearing, smelling or physically sensing something), odds are good that your strongest psychic sense is clairvoyance. That you see these lights during or after prayer is not surprising, since you would be in an altered state of consciousness and in a very high vibration at those times. This would facilitate clairvoyance and other psychic experiences. In fact, the shifts that occur when you're praying like this are similar to what psychics purposefully strive to achieve in the various rituals they undertake before beginning psychic reading work.
It's also common to experience visions of light when one is in the midst of a spiritual awakening or kundalini experience. Many spiritual seekers have reported various visions of light after engaging in rigorous spiritual practices like deep prayer and meditation.
I don't think it's any accident that the religious objects I mentioned above tend to be focal points for great prayer and devotion, for there is tremendous power in belief. While there are many other possible explanations, my best guess is that the light you're seeing is the energy of your own devotion. Seeing this light would in essence be a form of psychometry. What's happening is you're tuning in to this object's energetic history, and the light you're seeing around this picture is the divine light of your own devotion.
Everything we come into contact with is affected by our energy. This is felt most readily in buildings because they become like containers for the energies of the people who live and work there. If you are sensitive to energy, you know that every person's home has a certain psychic atmosphere. The difference between many homes in the same neighborhood may be striking or subtle depending on who lives there. However, there are places where the difference is so striking that even people who are psychically insensitive can feel it. For example, if you compare the energy of a lovely church to that of a prison, most people will understand what we mean when we talk about the psychic atmosphere or energy of a place.
Some objects store energy better than others. For example, metal seems to hold a charge for a long time; objects that are durable tend to hold a charge better than objects of a more fragile nature; anything that gets washed regularly (such as clothing) tends to lose its charge quickly. Objects that are regularly worn or carried next to the body will pick up more energy, and items that are treasured will also carry a strong charge, for when we cherish something, we imbue it with the energy of our love for it. Pieces of jewelry (especially wedding bands) tend to be ideal objects for psychometry work because they're metal, worn daily, and treasured.
In addition to all these factors, wedding bands are consecrated. The act of consecrating something actively and purposefully imbues it with a certain quality or meaning. This is very powerful on a spiritual level. In praying to this picture of Jesus every day, you are in essence consecrating it. You are actively sending it the energy of your love and devotion. You are also treasuring it. The fact that you do this every day would give this picture a very strong psychic charge.
In conclusion, the light you're seeing around this picture is most likely the energy you have imbued the picture with. If a gifted psychic were asked to read this picture without knowing you or anything about your connection to it, she could probably come up with lots of information about you and get a strong, clear impression of your extraordinary devotion to Jesus.
As I describe above, there may be all sorts of things happening to cause this picture to glow. Certainly seeing this light when you do is a natural result of the high level of consciousness and vibration you achieve via your daily spiritual devotions. This experience may hold special meaning for you, or it may simply be that at those times, you are in an ideal state of consciousness to perceive divine energies in general. --Julia
